Luckily, there’s a real low tech solution to the problem: use a vacuum cleaner to remove the lint from inside your box (make sure, the airflow can’t turn any fans. You don’t want to turn them into generators). You’d be surprised how silent clean fans can be. You also get a lowered power consumption as a bonus.
